A classic barn-care staple!
Bag Balm Original is a rich, lanolin-enriched balm for moisturizing, softening, and protecting dry or distressed skin on horses and other animals.
- Originally developed in Vermont for dairy-cow skin care
- Bag Balm has been kept in barns for generations
- Its thick, long-lasting texture creates a protective moisture barrier that helps soften rough, dry, chapped, or irritated skin and shields vulnerable areas from further drying
- Common animal uses: dry, chapped, flaky, or weather-exposed skin, minor superficial scrapes, rubs, and skin abrasions after the area has been cleaned, dry noses, paw pads, elbows, and other rough skin on companion animals, small rub spots caused by tack, blankets, boots, or normal barn activity, dry areas around the pasterns, heel bulbs, or other places prone to cracking, hoof and skin areas that need a moisture-protective barrier during wet or dry conditions
- Why this formula works: petrolatum forms a long-lasting occlusive barrier that helps reduce moisture loss, lanolin softens and conditions dry, rough skin, paraffin wax helps give the balm it protective, stay-put consistency
- No added fragrance, color, alcohol, parabens, or phthalates
- Made in Vermont, USA, with the time-tested Original formula
- Available in mini 1 ounce tin or original 8 ounce tin
- Ingredients: Petrolatum, Lanolin, Paraffin, Water, 8-Hydroxyquinoline Sulfate
- How to use on animals: gently clean the area and remove dirt, debris, or dried discharge, dry the skin before application unless your veterinarian has directed otherwise, apply a thin, even layer of balm to the affected external area, reapply as needed to maintain a protective moisture barrier, monitor the area and discontinue use if redness, swelling, irritation, or sensitivity worsens
- For external use only. Avoid the eyes, nostrils, mouth, and other mucous membranes. Do not use as a substitute for veterinary treatment on deep wounds, punctures, serious burns, infected areas, persistent skin conditions, or injuries requiring sutures. Contact a veterinarian if the area is painful, hot, swollen, draining, spreading, or not improving. Discourage licking or ingestion after application
